Eliza

Dr. Joseph Weizenbaum of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, created Eliza in 1966. It was intended to resemble a Rogerian psychologist. Eliza worked on the principle of repeating what the user typed, and by asking certain things when certain keywords were hit. Although it was very simple, Eliza was able to mimick human behaviour, thus fooling the user in a conversation. At the end, it was Eliza that ran the conversation by constantly fooling the user.
